Description

A large bronze equestrian statue of Juan Seguin, for whom the town is named, sits atop a red granite base. Seguin rides his horse with his sword drawn upright. Seguin was one of the first to oppose Mexican General Santa Anna and called for a constitutional convention. He was made a Captain in the Texas Army by William Travis. He eventually led a cavalry unit at the Battle of San Jacinto to secure Texas independence.
