Description
On the next landing of the Monument Terrace at Lynchburg is the World War II Memorial on both sides of the stairway. On one side there is a bronze rifle with the barrel end down and a helmet resting atop the butt. On the wall behind are carved the names of those who gave their lives in the conflict. There is also a quote from Dwight Eisenhower. On the other side of the terrace landing is another wall with more names inscribed as well as a small set-in stained glass window with the coat of arms of Company B 116th Infantry, Batteries A and B and the 246th Coast Auxiliary.
