This bronze plaque along the Hudson River south of West Point commemorates the many surplus merchant ships form World War II that were anchored along the river and used for storage. These ships were anchored along the river from 1946 to 1971 and mostly used to hold surplus grain and were ready to carry goods where needed in emergencies anywhere in the world.
