var str = 'The Pflugerville Fallen Warrior Memorial began as a tribute to a local Marine who gave his life in 2004. Citizens then researched and discovered other local residents who had fallen in service and enlarged the plans and scope of the memorial to honor all those who had given their lives. Eight additional men were discovered to have fallen in combat and since the original dedication several other local men have fallen and been honored. The moving memorial consists of three life-size bronze sculptured soldiers of varying generations who are poised in front of a large granite pentagon upon which are engraved the names of the fallen. Two of the figures hold a folded US flag to symbolize the fallen. To the left of the soldiers a a statue of a small boy salutes them. A stone amphitheater bench provides seating next to the pentagon and looks out over the memorial site. Around the base of the entire site are embedded bronze leafs inscribed with dedications to servicemen and women by their loved ones and friends.

var str = 'McAllen, Texas is the home of a new very large war memorial to honor all those who have served in America’s wars of the 20th and 21st century. The memorial continues to grow and will eventually have a large center star-shaped building that rises to the “American Spire of Honor”. Currently there are a number of courtyards composed many polished black granite memorials that tell the stories of the wars from World War I to the present and provide a list of names of those from Texas who gave their lives. There are also two special sections that honor those Texans who have been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and a special focus on Hispanics who have been awarded the Medal of Honor. There are also individual memorials honoring Women in the Service and particular units. The entire circular complex is surrounded by American flags on pedestals that are donated by groups or individuals to honor specific individuals or units.';
