var str = 'This large, circular memorial honors canines who served with the U.S. Army in combat from including the Lewis and Clark expedition through modern times. The memorial centers around a large black granite column on which are sculpted a canine and his soldier handler/companion. It is surrounded by individual markers that honor canines and their handlers who served in individual American wars; these individual markers have bronze plaques on the top and colorful unit insignias on the bottom. There are also histories of the canine corps and the service they have rendered. The bronze plaques also list the individual canines by name who were killed in action. Individual markers also list and honor Marine Corps and Navy K-9, Air Force Security Dog, and Military Police K-9 units. There is also a marker to honor the Veterinarian Service Units in Vietnam. Two large markers list the names of the dogs and handlers who were killed in the fighting in Vietnam. Finally, there is a marker describing the actions of S/Sgt Robert Hartsock of the 44th Infantry Platoon Scout Dog unit who received the Medal of Honor for his actions in Vietnam. There is a separate marker that includes a bronze sculpture of a paratrooper and the famous jumping dog “Geronimo” who jumped with the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment and helped raise over $16 million in war bond funds';

var str = 'This beautiful memorial site honors the Army Rangers who have served the U.S. since their inception. On enters the site along a walkway lined with stones purchased to honor individual Rangers – there are no ranks on the stones just the term “Ranger” before the names. A dramatic entrance arch stands at the entry; the arch is composed of two large granite columns with the word “Ranger” as is seen on the uniform patch stretched across. On the left column is inscribed the Ranger creed and on the right column are the Standing Orders of Rogers Rangers as developed by the originator of the US Rangers, Robert Rogers, during the French and Indian War. At the end of the walkway and framed through the arch, is the focal point of the memorial site – a large Fairbairn-Sykes knife sculpture that stands on its point. The knife was standard issue to Army Rangers during World War II. There are also black marble markers that give the history of the Rangers, their units and the campaigns in which they participated as well as the names of those who were awarded the Medal of Honor. var str = 'At the site of the most notorious US Civil War prisoner of war camp has been created a national/international museum that focuses on the plight of prisoners during war. The museum chronicles the history of POWs and the many indignities and issues they face. There are many artifacts and personal stories from those who have endured and the narratives of those many who did not survive. This is a very touching and poignant museum that covers a topic often overlooked in military history.';

var str = 'Major General Paul Freeman ordered the creation of a statue to honor the history and service of the U.S. infantryman over 200 years of the nation’s history. This noble bronze statue was created by two army privates – PFS Manfred Bass and PFC Karl Van Krog. They used a fellow soldier, officer candidate Eugene Wyles as their model. The statue of the infantryman shows him with his right arm raised and calling out for his comrades to follow him as he moves ever forward in the face of the enemy. In his left hand he holds his rifle. The statue sits atop a simple square concrete base. It is located in the entrance rotunda of the National Infantryman Museum at Ft Benning Georgia';
