Description
An account of the resource
In 2004 the Cornerstone Honors Program students designed, raised funds, and built this memorial in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. The students researched American monuments in order to choose their own design. Their research produced a striking memorial on our campus composed of individual dog tags with the names of fallen heroes in the order of their death. The tags are riveted to black powder coated panels. The walls that are not under a cover have a copper roof. The design is reminiscent of the Vietnam memorial. As the fighting has continued the memorial outgrew its original wall and additional walls of dog tags with names have been added.
