An account of the resource
The Cumberland County, North Carolina World War II memorial is comprised of three large granite markers. The center marker is topped by a bronze eagle and inscribed with World War II and two bronze olive branches and underneath this is a quote from Franklin Roosevelt. The left marker is inscribed with “Pacific Theater” and a quote from General Douglas MacArthur, while the right marker is inscribed “European Theater” and a quote from General Dwight Eisenhower. On all three markers are inscribed the names of those who gave their lives in the war from Cumberland County.
