var str = 'This large eight-sided granite memorial honors African Americans who have received the U.S. highest honor for bravery the Medal of Honor. The memorial explains the award and then on bronze plaques around the memorial lists those men who received the memorial in America’s wars. There is a special plaque for the Civil War. On the top of the granite pedestal are two bronze life-size figures: an African-American Civil War soldier holding an American flag in one hand and a cane in the other and a World War II African American soldier who is apparently attired in a paratrooper uniform.
