var str = 'Thirty-acre battlefield given by France in 1979 and part of American Battlefields Monument Commission. There is a long walk to the viewing area of the point but the route is marked with information plaques. Craters and bunkers remain from the fighting and there are viewing platforms. The site is undergoing renovations and repairs and the famous Rangers granite “dagger” had been temporarily removed in summer 2010 as the end of the famous point needed to be reinforced before more of it crumbled into the sea';

On the top of the wall is inscribed “WWII Rangers Led the Way” with a Combat Infantryman’s Badge. On the face of the front marker is inscribed the Ranger Battle Honors for World War II. On the sides of the base are quotes from U.S. Presidents and U.S. Generals Ridgeway, Truscott and Clark describing and praising the Rangers. On the wall are listed the individual 1st thru 6th Ranger Battalions with the names of those men who were killed in action. On the far right side are listed the Rangers who were killed while serving in the Canadian/American First Special Force at Anzio Beachhead Italy. ';

var str = 'This beautiful memorial site honors the Army Rangers who have served the U.S. since their inception. On enters the site along a walkway lined with stones purchased to honor individual Rangers – there are no ranks on the stones just the term “Ranger” before the names. A dramatic entrance arch stands at the entry; the arch is composed of two large granite columns with the word “Ranger” as is seen on the uniform patch stretched across. On the left column is inscribed the Ranger creed and on the right column are the Standing Orders of Rogers Rangers as developed by the originator of the US Rangers, Robert Rogers, during the French and Indian War. At the end of the walkway and framed through the arch, is the focal point of the memorial site – a large Fairbairn-Sykes knife sculpture that stands on its point. The knife was standard issue to Army Rangers during World War II. There are also black marble markers that give the history of the Rangers, their units and the campaigns in which they participated as well as the names of those who were awarded the Medal of Honor.
