Description
An account of the resource
This granite square open-air temple which is supported by eight Tuscan-style columns is topped by a Confederate soldier with his hands resting on his rifle and is inscribed with the dates 1861-1865. Under the temple roof rests a kneeling woman draped in a long gown with her head downcast. An inscription indicates it is dedicated to “Our Fallen Heroes”.

An account of the resource
This small plaza in Laurel, Mississippi honors the young men from Jones County who gave their lives in the wars of the 20th century. Two tall flag poles center the plaza, around which are granite markers containing the names of those who served in each of the major wars of the 20th century. One marker is inscribed with the names of the three Medal of Honor recipients from Jones County.
