On the grounds of the Lamar County courthouse resides a gray granite monument. On the monument is a large bronze plaque that lists all those from Lamar County who served in World War I as well as those who were killed in action and those who served as nurses. Atop the plaque is a large bronze eagle landing on the words “Roll of Honor”.
