This large, beautiful memorial is comprised of polished black marble monuments etched with the names and pictures of those from the units of Central Texas who lost their lives in the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The individual monuments are arranged by year and they surround the now standard “Fallen Hero” sculpture of a pair of empty combat boots with a rifle standing upright and a helmet resting atop the butt of the gun.
