var str = 'At 150 feet tall, the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing honors those who fought along the Somme from 1916-1918 and towers over the surrounding countryside and can be seen for miles. The French village of Thiepval was wiped from the map with the fighting here in 1916. The large arch designed by Edwin Lutyens is inscribed with the names of more than 73,000 British and South African troops who have no known grave and is composed of limestone and red brick. This is the largest British memorial in the world and is topped by large British and French flags. Behind the imposing structure is a cemetery that contains graves of 300 British and 300 French soldiers, which is unique. Within the cemetery is a British Cross of Sacrifice and under the large arch of the memorial is the Stone of Remembrance. ';

var str = 'There are almost 50,000 British and Commonwealth states’ servicemen who are buried in 37 cemeteries throughout Italy. The cemetery at Anzio has 1,056 burials and was chosen immediately after the landings by Allied troops in January 1944. British military cemeteries are very reminiscent of English gardens with flowers in front of each headstone. Headstones are uniform and simple and each headstone contains the national emblem or regimental badge, rank, name, unit, date of death, and age; an appropriate religious symbol sits below the inscription along with any personal inscriptions from the family. Each cemetery with more than 40 graves has a Cross of Sacrifice, which is a simple cross with a bronzed sword embedded upon it and which sits upon an octagonal base. The British government decreed that all British servicemen killed overseas during the wars will be buried with their comrades who have fallen.';
