This large half circular wall contains black granite panels with the list of 2,228 names of those from the state who lost their lives in World War I; the names are listed in alphabetical order. The first panel on the left end of the memorial wall contains a brief description of the war by sixteen-year old Misty Phillips. In front of the World War I semi-circle is a large brick triple archway that was moved to this memorial park from the old Anniston High School; it sits on a raised brick platform. The memorial is part of a larger memorial park that honors all Alabama heroes of the wars of the 20th century.

This black granite wall holds the etched names of those from Alabama who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the Vietnam War. They are listed in chronological order by year. The wall rises to a central peak and tapers on the ends. The 2 center panels contain a map of Vietnam and a poem, entitled “This Name on the Wall” by Ken Rollins (1994). The memorial is part of a larger memorial park that honors all Alabama heroes of the wars of the 20th century.

This memorial park honors Alabama military servicemen and women who gave their lives for their nation in the wars of the 20th century. There are walls of names for World Wars I and II, Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf. The walls also include quotes/descriptions provided by Alabama schoolchildren. The walls are of polished black marble/granite. The largest two walls are for the World Wars and are arranged in half circles. The park is arranged around a small square pond and a brick-triple archway moved from the old Anniston High School and a set of large flagpoles.

An account of the resource
A large statue of piled rocks topped by a globe on which a spread-winged eagle lands honors those who gave their lives in the First World War. On the front of the memorial is a bronze plaque Honor Roll list of the forty-one servicemen from Calhoun County, Alabama who were killed during their service from 1917-1919. On the back side of the memorial is a small plaque referring to the Honor Roll for all Soldiers and Sailors from Calhoun County and indicates it was dedicated on Armistice Day 1921. The memorial sits on the island median of Quintard Avenue. The memorial was dedicated by the William Forney Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
