This tall rock obelisk honors the veterans of the Great War who trained at Camp Funston in World War I. The 89th and 92nd Divisions were created here and served under General Leonard Wood who ordered the memorial erected within one month of the Armistice in 1918. The units served at St Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne and Lorraine.
