A large male classical warrior statue dominates the plaza. The male warrior is adorned with a helmet, sandals and has a cloth draped across his waist but is otherwise nude. His left hand is raised and holds a small female figure while in his left hand he grips a sword and a wreath. The statue sits atop a granite base on which is inscribed the commemoration to the Sons of Tennessee who gave their lives in the Greatest War 1914-1918. The statue was sculpted by Belle Kinney and dedicated in 1929. On the walls around the plaza are six very large bronze plaques entitled “In Memoriam” and inscribed with thousands of names of those who were lost. War Memorial Plaza in Nashville, Tennessee
